RIP, I confess I had one of those jumpers just couldn't get one with darker patterns on nearest I could find was plain cream colour down petticoat lane looked a bit shit tbf and only wore it once. My mate had one with the dark patterns and was a bit smug but had to laugh when we were in the shed one year we took it and everyone decided to go down onto the pitch they came down behind us and he had it ripped off and it unravelled while getting over onto the pitch.

"Yes indeed he buggered his back jumping on the roof of the car."
Saw him interviewed on a kid's show (Swap Shop?) back in the day. He was asked about that stunt, Why did he do it himself? He said he used to do a bit of trampolining at school/college and the jump was similar to a move called a "seat drop," and he thought he could do it onto a car.

Manuel - It was originally shown as a mini-series, two one and a half hour parts equalling three hours and that's the best one. I bought the DVD years later and it's only 113 minutes long. It's a decent watch if you had never seen the original but if you have the DVD misses out far too much.

I've never seen Salem's Lot, it's on TPB, 3 hours long, I believe originally it was a 2 part film.

Yes indeed he buggered his back jumping on the roof of the car. The episode you mention was a two parter called "The Fix". Originally banned by the BBC, the episode was first shown on British television on 31 May 1999 on Channel 4 as part of a Starsky and Hutch theme night, although I am convinced I saw it as a kid.
This is a nice little video - David Soul discusses Salem’s Lot on its 42nd Anniversary. More interesting in 18 minutes than most documentaries are over an hour!

Loved S & H.
I believe that when Hutch landed on the bonnet of the car in the opening credits, he seriously fucked up his back.
Didn't he get addicted to smack in one episode?

Ex - I love little tales like that, bumping into Huggy in WSM, fmob.
Like most kids then I liked Starsky & Hutch, but wasn't mad about it, I just liked David Soul himself as opposed to the character Hutch, ie I never followed Paul Michael Glazer later in life but did Soul, was just a fucking cool bloke, so feel a bit sad that he's gone, but he had a decent innings.

COME ON SILVER LADY TAKE MY WORD
I always wanted a cardigan just like Starskey's. Thought I'd really cut the mustard in one of those.

Met him many years ago. Pretty much the only person I've ever been starstruck with having grown up watching him on a Saturday evening as a kid.

I always liked David Soul, a very cool, bloke good looking bloke who you may have been in awe of when growing up etc, but I'm not sure about all this ''great bloke'' stuff. Have a look at his wiki page, among other things he was jailed for beating up his wife who at the time was 7 months pregnant.

Some good videos on You Tube re Salem's Lot, one of which David Soul presents himself. No CGI in those days just some very uncomfortable safety lines and body casts! Apparently the Marsden House on the hill is just a four sided facade which surrounds a small house already there. The lady who lived in the house didn't want to leave but was quite happy to stay with this creepy fake facade around her house!
